Healing House
Up in the mountains of Garabito, Puntarenas, with an amazing view of the Ocean Pacific and its sunsets, will lay Healing House.
The client is Peruvian and as a background and upbringing memories she had Machu Picchu, its many amazing ancient ruins and the more recent brutalist contemporary architecture from Peru, with all the feelings these structures evoked in her unconsciousness
The light the shadow, and the dense structures were some of the things she wanted included in HH. She longed for these feelings of homeness and safety, while also being aware that the project would belong in the Tropics. With this in mind and having done the site analysis, we took the challenge of starting the design of the project.
Our proposal took into consideration the results of the site analysis and its strengths and challenges. With all these considered, we proposed the shapes, materials, and layout we needed to be able to achieve the most important conceptual requirement: the house should heal by itself it should be a shelter of rest and a place of peace, sacred and shaded, while also framing the most outstanding views to the ocean from most areas of the house.
